Para(NOT)normal

paranormalI’m going to admit I was a little bit intimidated when I saw this assignment. Mainly because my photo editing skills are really subpar. But I’ve just decided with this class that I can’t get credit if I don’t at least try, right? Well I’m actually surprised that my picture turned out decently cool!

I didn’t really know where to start. I started brainstorming scenes from different horror movies that I have seen in the past. I thought of one particular scene from the ending of The Last Exorcism. And I do believe it is the very end. I remember this scene vaguely, but I know that it caught me by surprise. In it, the young girl has given birth to the devil, and the rest of the town is praising it’s birth in the middle of the woods over a large fire pit.

As I recalled this scene, I remembered a series of photos I had taken while in Puerto Rico two summers ago. I took this photo in a collection of ruins in San Juan. My picture is a circular wall of stone ruins surrounding a cylinder pit. For some reason, it reminded me of this scene from The Last Exorcism. I decided that I was going to edit my photo too look eery, and add something over top of the cylinder. I didn’t want my image to hit ya in the face as scary, but leave a weird taste in your mouth after you saw it. I hope my goal was achieved!

But whatever you do, don’t go down into the pit……you may never come back out alive……
